*Disclaimer: Please hear me out before you jump down my throat, this is much more complicated and nuanced than

simple or single statement.

There are an infinite of ways to be transgender, to identify, to express. There is no one right way to be, it identify, or to express as a transgender persons. There are absolutely zero reasons to gate keep each other, to mandate any requirements, to discriminate.

  • Some trans people are diagnosed and identify medically, whether that be due to gender identity crisis or gender dysphoria.

  • Some trans people identify specifically in the binary, as either a man or a woman. And some of those identify as “stealth”, in that they don’t want people to know they trans and only as the gender they identify as.

  • Some trans people identify as non-binary, or queer, they do not identify in the binary at all, they do not transition from one to the other. Some trans people don’t identify as any gender at all.

  • Some trans people do not opt in for hormone replacement therapy. Some trans people do not opt in for any surgeries or medical alterations. Some don’t get any of the previously mentioned.

  • Some trans people feel gender dysphoria in a way that means they do not feel like they were born in the right body or that parts of their body do not match their gender identity.

  • Some trans people feel gender dysphoria in a way they the gender assigned to them at birth does not match their identity, or even how they express, and so they express differently or identify differently - but do not feel like their body needs to change.

  • Some trans people change how they transition, how they wish to express, how they identify over time - they may shift between the above mentioned or otherwise.

What has been listed above is not all the exists out there, there is more out there than I can possibly imagine or explain here. And I am not an authority of being transgender, merely my own experiences and identities that apply to me. I identify as an AFAB trans-masculine non-binary queer. Mouthful? Yes, but I am being detailed here. Otherwise, I just tell people I am non-binary. I am on HRT, I have had top surgery, total hysterectomy, and GRS. I have and do experience gender dysphoria in multiple ways.

Keep in mind that all of us are battling any of the following, but not limited to: cisnormativity, binary enforcement, transphobia, transmisogyny, and bioessentialism.

Additionally, keep in mind that gender identities and expressions vary between countries, locales, and cultures. That discriminating non-binary identities and enforcing specific cis expectations, as well as the binary, is racist. Info: [1] [2][3] [4] [5]

Friendly Reminder: there are more than 2 sexes, more than 2 genders. Have an info dump about that.
